Governor Blagojevich says he is considering speed cameras on the interstates to ticket speeders. The money is to be used to assist crime fighting measures in Chicago. Interestingly enough just yesterday I saw a photo showing a speed camera ticket of a car being towed for service over the speed limit. I am fundamentally opposed to traffic cameras of any kind.
A man was arrested for planning to assassinate Barack Obama. He had also made threats against President Bush but you wouldn't see that in CNN's report.
In Los Angeles there is a proposal to require any big box home-improvement stores to build a heated and cooled shelter, and toilet, for day laborers who often hang looking for work.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was held at gunpoint Sunday night by members of the Mexican military who had crossed the border into Arizona, but the soldiers returned to Mexico without incident when backup agents responded to assist.
A young man, his father, and a friend were charged with wide ranging crimes related to a possible plot to assassinate the President. Maps of Camp David and the motorcade route were found along with weapons, pipe bombs, and instructions on killing at 200 yards.
Newt Gingrich says Republicans should shut down the government over the drilling issue, Pelosi did say there were Parlimentary tricks the Republcians could use to force a vote if they can get the support. This would be one of them. Of course Gingrich's didn't have much success with government shut downs when he was in charge, miscalculating who would be blamed.
George Clooney has a fundraiser planned for Obama in Switzerland, but after the recent beating he has taken over his Rainbow Tour Hugh Hewitt wonders if that will be the next thing to end up under the buss!
Democrat Congressman Tom Allen of Maine, who is running against Susan Collins for the Senate, called on the President to call Congress back into session. Problem is he voted for the adjournment just last week!
More fact checking of Obama's tire inflation claims. Did you know that about two thirds of us already inflate our tires? Not that much savings left to squeeze out of that remaining third is there?
The Washington Post doesn't think much of Obama's windfall oil tax, seems even they can figure out that it is just a shell game, "robing Peter to pay Peter"!
At leat one of the Presidential candidates has a sense of humor -- John McCain Suggests That His Wife Would Make A Good Entrant In Sturgis Topless Beauty Contest.
Al Gore has a new house boat -- BS One, well actually it is 'Bio-Solar One' but, if the boat fits sail it!
There is a spot in So Cal where the ground is 812 degrees! Some geological anomaly!
Germany gets it -- they are delaying or halting the decommissioning of some of their nuclear plants. They get about 40% of their natural gas from Russia and they have quite a bit of coal.

High energy prices are causing an increase in the purchase of alternative heating systems that burn stuff, coal, wood, trash, pellets. So, Nancy, how is that, "saving the planet," going. Better get back to DC to pass a law preventing people from keeping their families warm since won't allow any drilling!
Texas carried out the execution of a Mexican national who raped and murdered two teen girls (then bragged about it and gave one of their watches to his girlfriend) over the objection of the world court. Don't mess with Texas!
“It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain’s ‘all of the above’ approach to America’s energy crisis - including both alternatives and drilling. Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan.” Paris Hilton trying to strike back at McCain ends up endorsing his plan!

Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident Sunday night in north Mississippi. He has been hospitalized.
"But ... a question. Why in the world isn't anyone connecting the increase in the jobless rate last month to the increase in the minimum wage? At the beginning of the last month the minimum wage went up by 70 cents. When employers are forced to pay people more than they are worth .. they get kicked to the curb." Neal Boortz
Protesters have signed an agreement with the City of Denver preventing them from carrying poo and some other items that it was earlier reported they planned on using to protest the Democrats at their convention.

Did Chavez get taken by China? Chavez bought tons of new equipment with the understanding that China would build a refinery that can handle his dirty oil, but they don't appear to have held up their end.
Amadinejad says he met with a Presidential Candidate during his visit to NY last year. He was left with the impression that Americans and the world are with him. I don't buy it, I think the guys is bat shit crazy!
First the state of IL doesn't seem to have hardly any of Obama's State Senate papers and now Columbia can't seem to locate his senior thesis!

CNN dying to prove there is no enthusiasm for McCain among younger voters interviews a fake College Republican who, predictably isn't and knows of no one who is enthusiastic about McCain. Hmmm, go figure.
"Congress gives it to you without lubrication," bumper stickers available at Power and Control. A truer bumper sticker has never been written.

The Senate Republicans are holding the line on their promise to not allow any legislation to pass until a serious comprehensive energy bill that includes drilling can be voted on -- Harry Reid loses it under the pressure.
Energy is the top issue for voters now -- Republicans are on the right side of this one. I really can not figure out what is wrong with the Democrats. They either figure a bad economy helps Obama or they are such captives of Gore's Law that they can't think straight any longer.

No commentator seems to know that oil exploration is already subject to "use it or lose it" provisions -- and that petroleum exploration typically goes forward when companies feel they'll make a profit, and doesn't when they don't.
You might not know this but Obama has a forum type group blog that has been filled, cleansed, and is now filling again with wacko supporters including antisemites. What kind of an administration lets the loons loss with the keys?
Cheney reigned in the global warming nuts in the government driving the global warming nuts crazy!
San Bernardino county is rather pissed at San Francisco for their policy of shipping their illegal alien criminals out to the county and are suing to recoup the costs they have suffered as a result.
Will Obama's voting record hamper any moves he makes to move to the center?

California is burning because of typical shift in climate systems (that last change in 1977) and not global warming as some have tried to say.
